Last year, Microsoft expanded on the Xbox Game Pass where they brought it onto the PC. The service has kind of been in beta since then where Microsoft charged customers $4.99 to access it, which is actually a pretty good deal. The bad news is that it looks like the company will be increasing the price and doubling it.

According to an announcement by Microsoft, Xbox Game Pass for the PC will double in price on the 17th of September where it will cost gamers $9.99 a month. It’s actually still a pretty good deal but it’s something gamers will want to take note of. However, Microsoft does point out that current subscribers will still enjoy $4.99 a month through the next billing cycle, so if you haven’t signed up yet, you should probably do so if you want to save yourself a few bucks.

The price hike doesn’t really come as a surprise since $4.99 did seem like it was too good to be true, but like we said, given that the service was kind of in beta, it made sense that Microsoft would charge customers a lesser amount to encourage them to try it out.

For those who are unfamiliar, Xbox Game Pass is essentially like the Netflix for games. Gamers who are subscribed to the service will be able to access a library of games that they can play through to their heart’s content. The PC version will also come with a basic EA Play subscription which is priced at $4.99, so basically you would be subscribed to two services at once.
